dandelion trees
It was warm outside, but the air inside of this building was frigid. One day before, I was far away from this building, surrounded by a gentle breeze, and within a still sunlit evening. I had walked through the miniature forest that lived in my backyard. Tall dandelion trees and tall grass blades brushed against the sides of my shoes every step I took. There were clover bushes and clover flowers at the bases of the other weeds that stretched to the sky. It was so warm that it had felt like the sky was melting and blending into all the different colors of the earth and the atmosphere, melting and blending into me. So, I kept walking.
Forward upon the path that I took, there were grand trees with green, fresh leaves, which had come out of hiding so recently. Everything around me was so bright. It was six in the evening, but the sun shone strongly. The farther I had traveled, the heavier the sky became. The warmth of it kept sinking down so that it could touch the ground and mold into one with it, but I kept walking.
I passed in between two large trees, their dark branches glittered with little yellow flowers, akin to the way dark skies are glittered with shining stars. Within the vast universe of these trees lay birds and their nests, like the planets and galaxies that floated in outer space. They called to each other, creating a bridge that joined the two trees, built by the sounds of their chirps. Every noise they made became muffled, though, as the atmosphere began to engulf everything around us. Still, I kept walking.
I kept walking in the comfort of the sleepy, hazy sunshine until it, too, began to fall. With the fall of the day, the night woke up. The moon lifted up every foggy mist that the sun had dropped upon us, and it told the clouds to cry. It rained, and it was too cold for me to stay there, so I had to go inside this building to hide. I was hiding for hours, it was hours until the sun rose again.
